Sasaki pitched a perfect game on this day, the first time in 28 years in Japanese professional baseball (NPB). He is the 16th pitcher in NPB history to achieve a perfect game, and at 20 years and 5 months old, he is the youngest ever to do so.
He also struck out 13 consecutive batters in this game, which is a new NPB record. He also tied the record for strikeouts in a single game with 19.
With a fastball over 160 km/h and a sharp fork ball, his perfect pitch count of 105 pitches was truly overwhelming.
佐々木投手はこの日完全試合を達成しましたが、これは日本のプロ野球（NPB）で28年ぶりの快挙だそうです。完全試合はNPB史上16人目で、20歳5か月での達成は史上最年少です。
また、この試合で13連続奪三振をあげていて、これが新記録です。また、一試合の奪三振19個もNPBタイ記録です。
160km/hを超える速球と鋭いフォークボールで球数105球でのパーフェクトは、まさに圧倒的なピッチングでした。
