heartburn という単語ご存知ですか？
「ハートが燃える」みたいに見えますが、
これで『胸焼け』だそうです。
THE FREE DICTIONARY BY FARLEX の説明では
heartburn
A burning sensation, usually centered in the middle of the chest near the sternum, caused by the reflux of acidic stomach fluids that enter the lower end of the esophagus. Also called acid reflux, cardialgia, pyrosis.
「胸焼け
酸性の胃液が食道の下端に逆流することによって起こる、胸骨に近い胸の中央部を中心とした焼けるような感覚。acid reflux、 cardialgia、 pyrosis とも呼ばれる。」
となっていました。
なお、ここで挙がっている類義語を英辞郎で調べると
acid reflux 『胃酸の逆流』、
cardialgia 『心臓痛、胸焼け』
pyrosis 『胸焼け』
のように出ていました。
例えば
「最近、脂っこいものを食べると胸焼けがする」なら
These days, I feel heartburn when I eat fatty foods.
のように言えます。
