『黙とう』を和英辞典で調べると、silent prayer と出ています。
prayer は『祈り』ですね。
『黙とうをささげる』ということになると、
observe a silent prayer や offer a silent prayer のようにsilent prayer を含んだ言い方ができます。
また、observe a moment of silence やpray silently のようにも言えるそうです。
At the rugby game held in Kumagaya on January 23, we had a moment of silence before the game to show solidarity with the people of Tonga who were affected by the eruption. A fund-raising event was also held at the venue. I hope that those activity will be some help for the Tongan people.
1/23に熊谷で行われたラグビーの試合では、試合前に噴火の被害を受けたトンガの方たちに連帯を示すために黙とうの時間がとられました。
その会場では募金活動も行われましたが、このようなことが少しでもトンガの人々の助けになればいいと思います。
