今日の気になる英語：ammunition depot は？
近頃のニュースとかツイートで見かけるammunition depot という言葉は、
『弾薬庫』のことです。
ammunitionが『弾薬』の意味なんですね。
この場合のdepotは『貯蔵所、倉庫』で、発音は díːpou デーポゥのようになります。
例えば、こんなツイートが有りました。
A major ammunition depot in Russian Belgorod has been blown up and the authorities are evacuating people. Obviously, this was done once again by the Ukrainians, but the local authorities claim that it was caused by the hot sun!
「ロシアのベルゴロドで主要な弾薬庫が爆破され、当局が人々を避難させています。
これは明らかに、またウクライナによるものですが、地元当局は暑い日差しが原因と主張しているそうです。」
ロシアの強がりが、ちょっとイタい感じになっていますね。
