『麻酔』は英語で anesthesia です。
発音は æ̀nəsθíːʒə で、アネスシージャに近い感じです。（もちろんシーはth音ですが。）
語源は「感覚の欠如」の意味のギリシャ語だそうです。
形容詞の『麻酔の』は anesthetic で、他動詞の『麻酔する』は anesthetize になります。

October 13 is “Anesthesia Day”, established by the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists. This is the anniversary of the world’s first successful operation to remove breast cancer using general anesthesia, performed by the Japanese doctor Hanaoka Seishu.
10月13日は、日本麻酔科学会が制定した「麻酔の日」です。
これは、日本人医師 華岡青洲が世界で初う手術をめて全身麻酔を用いた乳癌摘出手術の成功を記念した日です。
これ1804年、鎖国していた江戸時代の日本でのことですから、まさに偉業です。
